A common road block people have with meditation is thinking that having a demanding job, a family, and a busy life means they don't fit the bill for meditation. This misconception prevents many people from realizing the great health benefits that can result from meditation, like a stronger immune system (less doctor's bills), less stress (a happier life), and greater detachment from big and small irritations (enjoying the grocery store, instead of dreading it).

There's an article over at PickTheBrain.com that explains some of the practical benefits, that a normal, everyday person can derive from meditation. Read this page on some of the benefits and ask if you shouldn't give meditation a try.

If it sounds like something you might try, head over to The American Monk to get some free lessons. This is great because it is free and gives common people (like you and me) a chance to explore meditation. Share your experiences in the comments. Who knows? But I think we could all use the great health results that meditation seems to give.

I believe that we all meditate in one form or another. Of course, we can get technical such as in chi kung where we use the "Yi" to lead the "Chi," but meditation is primarily a focused state of mind wherein we manipulate our internal energies. Professional athletes and olympiads have already utilised visualisation methods to much success by using their experience and applying focused intent within higher states of consciousness. The same is true in martial arts: We need the focused physical exercises to build energy, knowledge, and coordination within the neural pathways. Then we need the meditation to manipulate those things we gained through physical and nutritional means to induce focused intent through proper circulation of internal energies. Meditative and Physical prowness go hand in hand with each other like yin and yang. They both build mental and physical health.

    being said,God bless everyone.

I have had great rewards with meditation. Not only does it bring me balance and centerness, but it gives me a chance to allow the outside energy to correct any inbalances in my body or mind.
I can tell when I have not been practicing, because everything seems to start getting out of wack.

Meditation is something which I think could benefit 100% of people. Even though I have never meditated before, I can see how it would help me. I regret being almost 30 years old without meditating. I think learning how to meditate at a young
age would help live a better life.
