Research Has Proved That Tea Is Healthier Than Water

July 12th, 2007

If there was one piece of advice in life that you should follow it would be this . . .

1) Drink lots of water

2) Always give in to peer pressure (in other words, try everything once)

However, this piece of advice appears to be out of date thanks to new research by the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition uncovered by the BBC.

This means amazing news for the Brit stereotype. They are known for the good old cup of tea and bowls of cornflakes, and this research reveals that tea actually rehydrates the body, whilst at the same time has ingredients that combat cancer along with numerous other health benefits.

The Findings

“They found clear evidence that drinking three to four cups of tea a day can cut the chances of having a heart attack.”

“Some studies suggested tea consumption protected against cancer, although this effect was less clear-cut.”

“Other health benefits seen included protection against tooth plaque and potentially tooth decay, plus bone strengthening.”

Dr Ruxton said: “Drinking tea is actually better for you than drinking water. Water is essentially replacing fluid. Tea replaces fluids and contains antioxidants so it’s got two things going for it.”

I Advise you follow this advice . . .

1) Drink 4 cups of tea a day

2) Always give in to peer pressure

I knew that tea has many good benefits for a long time now, but the information you offered are excellent!

I drink a lot of tea every day, more than 2.5 liters I believe. :) SOme people are telling me that I drink too much. :D

Anyhow, it’s nice to see that this is an increasingly encouraged activity.

I want to think you for all of your articles, because everyone of them is something I need,Also I think I drink as much tea as anyone and I love it.
    Thanks Jim R.

Although I love tea and drink about four cups a day already, this article is absolutely valueless as not only does it not weigh up evidence for and against this conclusion, it does not even cite the source of the research. You refer to ‘they’, ’some studies’ and this Dr. Ruxton – whoever he or she is. This is not an article, it is a joke.

this is a piece of joke.. nothing can replace water…

  6. Marina Says:

I agree with Liam Byrne, the article can not be considered serious. And the main thing which is wrong in all this information is that tea we drink with boiled water, which considered to be “dead” water,as it has no oxygen in it, at the same time fresh water containing oxygen is an antioxidant it self. As jane said:nothing can replace water and I agree

The considerations aired about what *To be, or not to be* a serious article have IMHO lots of holes bigger than Emmentaler cheese.
Water is H2O2. “Boiled water without oxygen” would not be water anymore . . . but pure Hydrogen . . .
Now tongue out of cheek: water boiled to death vertailnly may have another effect than water just simmering and used for teas (black and herbal.
