I am a customer service representative for a major satellite tv company, and I really wish my employer would take a look at this article. Maybe we could change the way we take care of our customers! I've always been irritated by the requirement set forth by my employer that we start notating the customer's account while the customer is speaking. I prefer to listen to the customer first, determine the best way to solve the problem, then notate the account after the call ends. How can I effectively help my customer if I'm busy typing while he or she is trying to tell me something?

By the way, Doug, I can dig the fact that your self improvement is not dependent on what anyone writes, but jeez! Lighten up, willya? The writer of this article is just trying to help people, what's wrong with that?

In answer to your question,"How are your listening skills?",
What?
P.S., My self improvement is not dependent on what you write.
